Wix Hosting Plan Renewal
Your website hosting plan ("Wix Premium Plan") is about to expire - here’s what you need to know:

Your "Premium Plan" is the website hosting plan you purchased through Wix.com when we initially launched your website. You likely paid for a 1- or 3-year plan (aka "Premium subscription").

To prevent disruption to your website service, all Premium Plans are set to renew automatically at the end of the subscription period.

You should receive email notifications from Wix starting at least 30 days before your next payment date to let you know that they will be processing your renewal payment.

​You will be charged the full amount for your yearly or multi-year subscription 14 days prior to the plan's expiration date.

Unfortunately, the "full amount" will be twice the original cost because we used a 50% promo code when we initially set up your website.

There are two possible ways to avoid paying full price for your renewal - see details below.

To view the exact date of your Premium subscription expiration, renewal, and billing information go to your​ Premium Subscriptions in your Wix account. You'll need to login. For instructions on how to access your Premium Subcriptions click here.​​

If Wix already auto-renewed your subscription at full price - you can try asking them for a discount or refund. Wix.com contact info here.

Avoid Paying Full Price for Your Renewal

Contact Wix Customer Service and ask for a 50% off promo:

Contact Wix Customer Service as soon as you get the 30-day notice and request a 50% off promo code.

They may provide it immediately, or you'll need to wait for an active promotion (Wix typically offers a 50% off promotion every 2 weeks on their website). They might offer a 10% or 30% promotion as an alternative.

Wix will guide you through temporarily canceling and re-assigning your site with a new hosting plan using the promo code.

Sometimes, they will say they don't offer 50% promos for renewals - only for new website plans. In this case, bust out your negotiation skills and ask for a renewal discount - they should offer 10-30%. Be persistent.

Let your current hosting plan expire and purchase a new plan from scratch using the 50% promo:

Your site will go unpublished to the public on the date your subscription expires. Check your Premium subscription expiration date here.

When Wix advertises their 50% promo code go ahead and purchase a new plan using the code. The 50% off promotion is advertised approximately every 2 weeks on the Wix.com website. Keep your eye out for it and jump on it when it comes around!

If your website gets traffic, it's a good idea to send out a notice to your clients/customers/readers letting them know your site will temporarily be down.

Purchase a second Premium Plan with an advertised 50% promotion and just before your first plan expires reassign the second one to your site:

​Anytime you see Wix.com advertising 50% off promotion you can purchase a plan and leave it in your account "unassigned" to a website.

Right before your current plan expires - assign the new plan to your website.

This method you won't spend any time with your site down.

Turning Off Auto-Renew
If you do not want your website hosting plan to renew automatically, you can turn off the auto-renewal feature. Follow the instructions here. Please note:

Your website will remain active and live until the expiration date even when it says your site is cancelled.

Upon expiration, you will NOT lose your website -- your website will still exist in your account, but it won’t be live online for public viewing once your plan expires.

At anytime after expiration you can purchase a new hosting plan and re-publish your site online.

Important Notes:

No matter what you choose to do at renewal time, you will NOT lose your website! It will remain unpublished in your Wix account.​

Other subscriptions (for example a domain subscription or business email) are separate subscriptions to your premium plan and will renew separately. You do not want your domain to expire because it is very difficult to get a domain back. I strongly encourage you to keep auto-renewal set to your domain.
